Well well well how extraordinary! Or is it? I've just seen on the news that 50000 or more postal ballot papers have gone missing in Florida. Oh yes, postal services are working overtime to search for the missing votes, and with the election just days away, if they are not found, there shall be no way of issuing new ones. does anyone have a sense of deja vu yet? It's governor Bush, I tell you, up to his old tricks again trying ot see his brother safely back into the Whitehouse for a second term of breathtaking incompetence and malformed grammar structures! But come on, you boys stateside, even if it's an accident, isn't it ironic? I mean, the Americans are fighting very hard with british troops at the moment to secure elections in Iraq in January, yet they can't even secure free elections in their own country! Well all I can say is I look forward to watching the drama unfold next week, as, I'm sure, do all the electoral lawyers over there. And as for our elections next year, surely Mr Blair won't follow america in this?
Don't worry Lawlord, we all know that Mr Blair won't need to stoop that low in order to win the next election, probably with the landslide he deserves...
Frey.
Freya, you are rapidly assuming the cloak of a comical nutcase when it comes to current affairs. Youc learly didn't see Tony on PMQS yesterday, taunted and pressed by Michael Howard, undermined by Charles Kennedy, ridiculed by his own backbenchers such as Gordon Prentice, and told off by the speaker for not answering the question! Besides, there is already evidence that Blair has stopped that low: in the European and local elections in June, over 100000 ballot papers didn't arrive on time, and many thousands also went missing. not my opinion, Freya, but the opinion of a public inquiry into the matter! You realy must bury your head in the sand if you think all is well with Mr Blair. If it is, why are people voting for the British National Party, or respect, or some other organisation? I'd respect your opinions a lot more, Freya, if you came up with some supporting evidence, like I do, and like others who seriously discuss current affairs on this board do. However, each time you post something on here you fall into error in the same way as before, rendering your argument paper-thin and practically moonshine. If you want to state a proposition, back it up with authority. If you're intellligent enough to hav studied Margaret Thatcher's premiership in minute detail, as you claim, show us evidence of that. Right now, you leave people without a clue as wo what the basis for your arguments are, which doesn't make them very useful and I, at any rate, begin to ask the question whether you're really capable of forming an opinion on current affairs at all. That could change of course, if your opinions are reasoned. anyway, back to the main point of this discussion on which you don't comment save in a rather indirect way, isn't it a bit strange that once again the Americans have allowed their election to begin with controversy?
I ought also to apologise for the numerous typing errors gratuitously distributed throughout my last post to this discussion.
Lawlord
It just shows that they are happy to treat the voters of america as clueless gullible numptys who would ever believe the same trick would work twice.
and who are those eejits voting for bush are they so desperate they have begun visiting facilities for the criminally insane!?.
You're forgetting one even more bizarre and, I am sure completely conincidental detail.
The county where the votes came from was the county that gave Al Gore 67% of this votes and is, thus the most democratic county in Florida .. according to today's news on www.bbc.com ... what an odd conincidence, eh.
I think if this were a trial, let's say, Bush v. Zonebbs members, I'd be making a submission of no case to answer at this stage and I'd be likely to succeed.
I cant believe this is happening all over again. What pisses me off most is the fact that, because of these "lost" ballets, Bush will probably get elected again. Its just a way for him to dominate the voting system again.
